PEMBROKE, NH. February 4, 2009 –In recognition of its unique custom approach to Green Building, Epoch Homes (www.EpochHomes.com) has been nominated for a New England Innovation Award by the Small Business Association of New England (SBANE). Epoch Homes continues to lead the industry, building award winning, fully custom designed Green modular buildings for residential and light commercial markets across the Northeast. Innovation is at the heart of economic prosperity and SBANE continues to recognize those companies that have transformed their innovative ideas into a product or service that delivers proven value to customers.
“There are a lot of different views right now on what green means. We try to respond to what the customer wants in a home and then offer as much guidance as we can on choices that can be made to achieve a Green design,” says Company CEO, John Ela. He argues that this approach is more effective at introducing green building to the mainstream market than the practice of offering specific green home models or features. “Many of the firms making green prefab housing offer only a few models with a “one size fits all” mentality, says Ela. A more flexible approach opens the door to a broader market, recognizes a range of budget realities, and in the end, allows more green homes to actually get built.
The company has developed a number of tools to facilitate the design, specification and quoting process. These tools allow Builders that have been through Epoch’s training program to work with homeowners to design and deliver the ideal home that balances lifestyle, budget and Green technologies.
